The CEEMEA primary markets saw a rather quiet week after very high primary issuance volumes over the past month. The weaker market backdrop followed greater noise around the ever closer US presidential elections. Moreover, caution gripped the markets ahead of the NFP announcement, which eventually came at 161,000 or 12,000 below consensus estimate

Following the Deauville partnership in May 2011 and the declaration of the G8 Finance Ministers of September 2011, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) were commissioned to conduct a pilot project: assessing the local currency markets of 4 countries of the Middle East and North Africa (Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan). The current publication highlights the results of the assessment for Egypt.
