It also signals that a country is maturing financially and is less dependent on donor funding.

African Yield Curves Guidebook

CEEMEA Debt Capital Markets Update

The CEEMEA primary markets saw a rather quiet week after very high primary issuance volumes over the past month. The weaker market backdrop followed greater noise around the ever closer US presidential elections. Moreover, caution gripped the markets ahead of the NFP announcement, which eventually came at 161,000 or 12,000 below consensus estimate

The year on year, inflation rate (annual percentage change) in the COMESA region as measured by the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI-COMESA) stood at 12.5% for the month of June 2016, up from 11.6% registered in May 2016. A year earlier, the rate was 9.5%.
